Let’s make an impact together!
If you are outgoing and knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about butterflies, consider being a docent in our two-story butterfly house! Be transported into a tropical paradise and spend your day engaging with guests, showing off our emergence chambers, and monitoring traffic flow.
If you have a group of philanthropic friends or coworkers, we always have opportunities to volunteer as a group. Join us for our various special events (including the State Fair of Texas) or for large projects in the butterfly house or gardens.
If you love reptiles and want to share your reptilian passion with guests, consider volunteering as a docent in the Snake and Reptile Shack! Remind everyone to practice safe behavior in the Shack, provide basic information about our reptiles (training provided), and turn any fear of reptiles into fascination.
If you have a keen eye for customer service, are comfortable with offering guests a warm welcome and assistance, enjoy designing and maintaining beautiful product displays, consider volunteering in our gift shop!
You don’t have to be an expert gardener to join our talented garden team in our renowned greenhouse and organic gardens where we cultivate and grow hundreds of varieties of rare, native and adapted pollinator-friendly plants and flowers.
We have a variety of events throughout the year: plant sales, the State Fair of Texas, fundraisers, spring break, summer camps, community outreaches, and more. We are always looking out for volunteers to help out during special events.
Donating to our Volunteer Department helps offset the cost of t-shirts, aprons and other supplies used by our volunteers. Our volunteers work hard to further our mission of teaching our guests how they can sustain the natural world. Donate today! Every little bit helps!
