Morning Leadership Session
In this immersive half-day summer camp, teens step into leadership roles as representatives of a fictional city. Throughout the week, campers face evolving challenges inspired by real- world environmental stewardship, community planning, and problem-solving. Every decision has lasting consequences, physically changing a shared city map and shaping the story of their world over time.
Using a choose-your-own-adventure style storyline, teens engage in hands-on STEM challenges, mapping and navigation activities, and guided discussions to determine how their city responds to new obstacles. Activities take place across multiple locations, including Texas Discovery Gardens, Big Tex Urban Farms, Leonhardt Lagoon, and the Children’s Aquarium, allowing campers to connect decision-making scenarios to real environments.
Afternoon Volunteer Session (Optional)
Teens may stay for an optional volunteer session to earn documented service hours. Participants assist staff with preparations for upcoming camps, help with tasks in the butterfly house, and support Homeschool Day on June 4. Discovery Crew teens may also earn additional volunteer hours by assisting with future youth camp sessions.
